Terms and conditions

These Terms and Conditions are the terms upon which you are entitled to access and use the AnaesthesiaUK Limited (“AnaesthesiaUK”) site at (the “Site”) and will continue in force until such time as either you or we terminate this Agreement. Access to and use by you of this Site constitutes acceptance by you of these Terms and Conditions, which take effect from the date of first access to the Site. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions do not use this Site.

Registration and Provision of Services

Before you are able to gain access to the entire Site you must register with us, please note however that only doctors may register. If you are practicing in the UK or Eire then we will need to validate you against the GMC database. Elsewhere we will carry out other validation checks and will need your place of work and training number.

We will provide you with a password, once you have registered. The password will allow you to access the Site, free of charge. We issue passwords only to bona fide health professionals and check all applications for authenticity and periodic spot checks are also made. Access to the Site is by password only and the Site is hosted on our own servers.

The information that you supply to us for the purpose of registration must be true and correct.

Each registration is for a single user only. AnaesthesiaUK does not permit you to share your user name or password with any other person nor with multiple users on the network. Responsibility for any passwords issued rest with you but we do provide a “Forgotten password?” link.

We have the right to bar you from using the Site by withdrawing your password at any time and without prior notification, if you violate any of these Terms and Conditions.

Your password, username and/or email address will not be given or sold to any third parties for use in direct mail or any other activities, other than to selected third parties providing specialist administrative services to AnaesthesiaUK, acting as agents on our behalf and with no rights to use your email address for any purpose whatsoever except on our behalf as allowed under these Terms and Conditions. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information.

Service Access

While AnaesthesiaUK will use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that the Site is normally available 24 hours a day, AnaesthesiaUK shall not be liable if for any reason this Site is unavailable at any time or for any period.

Access to this Site may be suspended temporarily and without notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for any reasons beyond AnaesthesiaUK’s control.

Use outside of the United Kingdom and Eire

This Site is primarily intended for access and use by persons in the United Kingdom and Eire. We do not represent or warrant that the information on this Site complies with the regulatory regime of any other country. If you access this Site from other locations outside the United Kingdom and Eire you do so on your own initiative and you are responsible for compliance with local laws.

Your Obligations/Permitted Use

You are authorised to view, print or download one copy of the materials or content on the Site on any single computer for your personal, non-commercial use, provided that any proprietary notices, marks, logos and other legends that appear on the copied screens remain on, and are not removed from the printed or stored images of such screens. This permission is subject to the material being reproduced accurately and not used in a misleading context and does not extend to any material on this Site that is identified as being copyright of a third party. You may not modify any materials on this Site in any way or reproduce or publicly display, perform or distribute or otherwise use them for any public purpose.

You may not copy, sell, rent, lease, license, sublicense, grant any rights in, transfer, distribute, time-share or otherwise assign to any third party any part of this Site.

If you breach any of these Terms and Conditions, your authorisation to use this Site automatically terminates and you must immediately destroy any downloaded or printed materials.

Unauthorised Use

When corresponding with us or any of our members or posting any comments on the Site (e.g. via the Forms Section) you may not use any obscene or inflammatory language, promote or exhibit sexually explicit materials, promote violence or other illegal activities including but not limited to, discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.

We reserve the right to remove all obscene or inflammatory postings and all other postings that we consider violate any of these Terms and Conditions at any time and without further notification.

Where any content or material on this Site is intended to be used for purposes other than that permitted above, you must obtain our prior written consent.

Unauthorised access by third parties

It is possible that third parties may access this Site and alter its contents. AnaesthesiaUK will not be liable for any damage or loss arising out of or resulting from any unauthorised access to, alteration to or modification of information contained on this Site.

Intellectual Property Rights

You acknowledge and agree that all content and materials available on this Site are protected by copyright, trade mark, service mark, patent, trade secret, or other proprietary rights and laws (together the “Intellectual Property Rights”). All Intellectual Property Rights in the content and materials available on this Site vest in AnaesthesiaUK and/or its suppliers (i.e. the third party content providers), unless otherwise indicated.

Unless otherwise stated, any Intellectual Property Rights arising in respect of or in connection with the Site’s design, text, graphics, its selection and arrangement, software and all other material on or in the Site, belongs to either AnaesthesiaUK or the third party content providers.

Third party links, frames and portals

The Site incorporate links to other sites, frames and portals (together “Third Party Sites”) designed, maintained and operated by third parties. AnaesthesiaUK has not reviewed the Third Party Sites which are provided solely for your convenience. AnaesthesiaUK is not responsible for the content or availability of such sites. If you decide to use a link to a Third Party Site you leave this Site and you do so at your own risk. It is your sole responsibility to take all protective measures to guard against viruses or other destructive elements.

Links do not imply that AnaesthesiaUK endorses, is affiliated or associated with, or is legally authorised to use any trade mark, trade name, logo or copyright symbol displayed in or accessible through the Third Party Sites or that any linked site is authorised to use any trade mark, trade name, logo or copyright of AnaesthesiaUK.

Third Party Content Use

Authorisation to reproduce third party material must be obtained from the relevant third parties concerned.

You must not permanently store or otherwise copy any material from the Third Party Sites’ content for wider distribution or commercial gain unless permitted by the relevant Third Party.

Limitation of Liability

This Site is provided, free of charge, for the purpose of assisting the academic study of AnaesthesiaUK. While we review all submissions and take all reasonable care to ensure that the information provided is correct we will not be liable to you whether in contract, tort, by statute or otherwise in respect of any loss of profits and/or for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of this Site.

Nothing shall exclude or restrict our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation and/or for death or personal injury arising as a result of our negligence.


The information provided on the Site is intended to be informative only and is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Accordingly we do not represent that it is complete and or entirely accurate. By accessing and using the Site you acknowledge that any reliance upon any information obtained or received via the Site shall be at your sole risk and subject to the limitation set out above.

Site Usage Information – Log files

Log files allow us to record visitors’ use of our Site. We compile log file information from all Site visits and use that to make changes to the layout of the Site and to the information in the Site based on the way visitors move around the Site. Log files do not contain any personal information.

Continued use of the Site after a modification, addition or change has been made is your acceptance of the modification, addition or change.


You may not assign, sub-license or otherwise transfer any of your rights under these Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to assign, sub-licence or transfer any obligations under these Terms and Conditions to a third party.

These Terms and Conditions cannot be varied except in writing by AnaesthesiaUK.

Any breach of these Terms and Conditions shall entitle AnaesthesiaUK to immediately terminate your use of the Site without notice, by cancelling your registration and password.

If any provision in these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by any authority having competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions, which shall remain in full force and effect.

Failure by either party to insist upon strict performance of any provision of these Terms and Conditions, or the failure of either party to exercise any right or remedy to which it is entitled under these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that right or remedy and shall not cause a diminution of the obligations established under these Terms and Conditions.

Headings in these Terms and Conditions are for convenience only and will have no legal meaning or effect.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are exclusively governed by English law and by using the Site you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

AnaesthesiaUK reserves the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country of your residence or that of your principal place of practice.

Funding of the site

AnaesthesiaUK is funded by sponsored educational resources from various companies. The AnaesthesiaUK team have reviewed this content carefully for its relevance to anaesthesia and have editorial control of the resources. Each page of the sponsored resource displays a banner containing the company logo and links to the relevant company’s homepage.

Advertising and editorial policy

Our advertising policy is that we do not allow sponsors to e-mail any of our registered users and that we do not allow overtly commercial text/images on the site. The AnaesthesiaUK team therefore only allows advertising images that have educational relevance to the resource. The AnaesthesiaUK team always reviews the content that is placed on the website.

Members may receive promotional electronic mailings concerning prescription medications and other carefully selected information. We would like to reassure you these mailings are vetted and sent directly by AnaesthesiaUK and that at no time is any member’s contact details provided to any of our partners.
